Kostya Tszyu is a retired Russian-Australian professional boxer who was born on September 19, 1969 in Serov, Soviet Union (now Russia). He is considered one of the greatest light-welterweight boxers of all time. Tszyu held multiple world titles in the light-welterweight division throughout his career.
Tszyu turned professional in 1992 and quickly rose through the ranks, winning his first world title in 1995 by defeating Jake Rodriguez. He went on to have a successful career, defending his titles multiple times and unifying the division.
One of Tszyu's most famous fights was his match against Zab Judah in 2001, in which he knocked Judah out in the second round to become the undisputed light-welterweight champion. Tszyu retired in 2005 with a professional record of 31 wins (25 by knockout) and 2 losses.
Since retiring, Tszyu has stayed involved in the sport of boxing, training his son Tim Tszyu who is also a professional boxer. Kostya Tszyu was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2011.
